Memberships and Appointments:
I am currently on a leave of absence from the University of Hertfordshire as the Associate Director of the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (the largest telescope in the world dedicated to submillimetre astronomy) on the island of Hawaii. My research interests are in understanding how stars form from clouds of dust and gas found in our Galaxy and in other galaxies in the Universe. I gained my BSc in Physics & Astronomy from the University of London and my PhD from the University of Edinburgh. I have been employed by the University of Hertfordshire since 1992.
