Ranjeet Sokhi leads the Atmospheric Dynamics and Air Quality research programme within the Centre of Atmospheric and Instrumentation Research (CAIR). His research focuses on the modelling of air quality on local to regional scales. His group was one of the first in the UK to use multiscale Eulerian models (eg. MM5, UM, WRF, CMAQ) to study urban and regional air quality and atmospheric dynamics. Through EU and national support he is either leading or is a partner in several research programmes on air quality and meteorological modelling, source apportionment of particles and the impact of air quality on health.

Coordinator of the Cluster of European Air Quality Research (CLEAR) consisting of 11 EU funded projects Coordinator of OSCAR (EU FP5 project) on an air quality assessment modelling system Chair of COST 728 on Enhancing European Mesoscale Modelling Capabilities for Air Pollution and Dispersion Applications Coordinator of MESOMAQ and MESO-NET (NERC KT project) both national networks on mesoscale modelling for air quality research Coordinator of CREMO project on Comparison and evaluation of Regional Scale Models funded by the UK Environment Agency Chair of the series of international conference on Urban Air Quality (UAQ)
